So in no particular order -
One night Shona was doing her study for her masters and I got a bit of inspiration from the intense look she gave when she studied. So I set up the shot to (hopefully) mimic the kind of scene that one would be in when they were studying late at night - i.e. tired expression while staring at laptop kinda thing.
Here is the set up:
CTB'd flash from inside laptop to get the illumination of the laptop screen (cause they eminate a blue light)
Umbrella to highlight the laptop's "Dellness"
This one started to get the 'look' I was going for - I collapsed the umbrella a bit to modify the light going onto the laptop. But it still didn't feel right to me - so I added a CTB gel and.....
Now with the last shot I took, Shona threw her head up while laughing and it turned out to be the best one in my opinion - it just completely altered the look of the scene.
Futher back I got Shona to pose for a few profile shots:
Now the main purpose of this was to play around with lighting Shona. I had a real lack of colour so I draped a sheet from the laundry over the wall as a background. I couldn't be bothered ironing it as I wanted to concentrate on playing around with the angle of the lights more so then concentrating whether or not it made for a really cool background. Although it does reduce the quality of the photo though.
And my favourite:
